So pleased
Rumours of Ryan’s nut based romance techniques are clearly based in empirical fact. We can only imagine the wide range of seeds/legumes he will press into action just trying to survive the advances of the “big mad crow”.
For what looks (and should have been) pretty run-of-the-mill, there were three drawn versions of this strip. I was very rusty when I got back to the drawing board. I did one version, then another a few days later. The final version is half of the original, a panel from the second, and a panel I drew yesterday. Enjoy trying to work out which is which.
2 – 3 – 1 – 1
No
Yes.
Just remember, Ryan: Ljubjana (very likely) has human feelings, too.
Ryan is a big respecter of feelings as I am sure you well know.
I like cashews. Any woman considering wooing me can tempt me with cashews. Once I start I can’t stop eating them.
However, I’m just slightly allergic to them. When they come out they make my butt-hole itch. I mentioned this to my (then) wife once in a grocery store. She started laughing so hard she fell to the floor and a security guard came over to see if she needed medical help.
That has nothing to do with why we aren’t married anymore.
Does it not, Douglas? Does it not?
Not really. I suspect that for years that incident was the only thing that kept us together.
My guess: Panels 2 and 4 are the original, 3 is the from the second, and 1 is from the one you drew yesterday.
How’d I do?
I was about to make the same set of guesses, and Scott beat me to it.
Completely wrong!!
Drat! Now I have to surrender my Art Director card.
I was going to make a guess. I think I have some salient clues. But it’s very late and I don’t really care that much, so just assume I made some valid points and hazarded a corresponding guess. Maybe it’s wrong, maybe not. There’s a good chance that any random throw will hit here.
I though 1 and 3 original, 4 from the second, and 3 the brand new one.
2 the brand new one – sorry.
I have only had 1 cup of tea – need moar.
Almost right – but not quite!
1 & 2 – original
3 – 3rd attempt
4 – 2nd attempt
My only guess was “3 was drawn alone” so I feel very good about having succeeded on my own modest terms.
Thank you for taking pity on me and putting me out of my misery.
Good news about Dan Pepperdine, at least!
I want to read about Tom Pope
He looks like he needs more sleep, though.
OK—I don’t think Panels 2 and 4 are the original, 3 is the from the second, and 1 is from the one you drew yesterday. Instead I’ll guess 1 & 2 – original, 3 – 3rd attempt and 4 – 2nd attempt.
My mother always says I have a special gift.
1-2-1-3!
Poor Ryan. Little does he know how the supernatural will affect his relationships. Hexes seem the least of it.
How could we possibly know????? (Aside from you telling us.)
Never mind a curse. Lady seems like she might kick his ass into next week.
Great idea with the cashews. Ryan. “Sweets for the sweet, BTW, have some nuts”.
Would work with crackers or bananas, too.
Don’t forget fruitcake.
Tricky question! And well done on that bit of misdirection. 1) is from the July 1971 issue of Popular Mechanics, 2) is a storyboard from the ad agency pitch that eventually became Code Red Mountain Dew, 3) is from the Louvre’s collection of mid-16th-century tapestries from the Loire, and 4) is the poster for an Idaho local theatre troupe’s production of Molière’s Le Médecin malgré lui starring Meatloaf.
