Something practical
I own a sledgehammer, and let me tell you, it’s a lot of responsibility. The second you pick it up, you become aware that you definitely do not possess the power of Thor. My noodle arms can barely strike the most glancing of blows before the need comes upon them to vibrate like two chihuahuas.
STEEPLE #2 is out today, hopefully I’ve posted something to this effect below, but I’m writing this in the distant past so who knows.
Just so you know John, Steeple #1 was one of the best comics I’ve read in quite some time! A fabulous introduction to the series, top form.
Thanks! I loved making those comics.
Just so you know, John. Steeple #2 is even better.
Wow, I think this is the first time I’ve ever seen an Engine Summer reference in the wild. One of my favorite books ever.
Sledgehammers are all very well, but if given the choice between a sledgehammer and a mattock, go for the mattock….
I dealt with mattocks in Giant Days so refrained here. It was hammer time, but a different hammer.
Myu-myu!
Sledgehammers are my favorite tool after machetes. They are so destructive.
I like a mattock. Or an adze.
You can turn away from the carnage committed by one end, and use the other to creat Great Art.
‘Tis meditative.
or create, even
Funny that Mr. Projects pulled Shelley’s hammer out of Hammerspace.
He didn’t. You can see it resting against the door in the previous panel.
Special projects are virtually synonymous with sledgehammers.
Shelley Winters = Jane Foster confirmed…
I must hie me to Forbidden Planet and get Steeple. I love me some JA artwork.
At the risk of being serious, I struggled at times with Giant Days because I kept thinking “Yeah, but if John had drawn it, it would have been funnier”. And then I felt guilty because I’ve met John and I knew about his noodle arms and it seemed churlish to want him to over-use them for my entertainment.
Back when I was a young pup, I worked for a while as a truck mechanic. One of the tools I had at the time was a 16 pound sledge hammer. (7 Kilos) Let me tell you, 10 minutes with that thing trying to beat an axle out is a workout!
I’ve missed you and the antics of Oop North. Glad your back, badman.
I was able to catch Steeple #1 by pure luck and I am already suscribed to the next ones, so all good as long as I have money to get them (this economy doesn’t guarantee anything not even comics D:) It’s making me very happy 😀
