Swanning off out
A new chapter begins today. We’ll find out what Shelley’s job involves (other than swanning off out) once we catch up with the other, somewhat neglected characters.

Not relevant to this strip, but I’ve been catching up the last few days and I just noticed that the letters Peter and Shelly have been hanging up in Special Projects are the CMYK colours that usually point to something interdimensional in the wider SGR-universe. Just what is afoot down there?
It’s mysterious, isn’t it!!!
Eh, your guess was close, Rich.
Rich died for a very good reason. And that reason was that he was dumb.
I completely agree. If a person remains mute when he should be asking for the help he needs, he’s asking for it. It’s not exactly a moment of genius, that.
Art Department Pro! Was more of a DeluxePaint IV enthusiast, myself. I still miss the .ANIM format, sometimes.
When I first wrote this comic I was trying to write a punchline based around “Amiga HAM files”, I almost died in the process.
I hope you took a rest afterwards, you earned it!
It seems “Torn asunder by a portal of cosmic effluvia with your bare nipples exposed” didn’t even make the list.
How alarming. That’s a party, now isn’t it?
Agreed about Deluxe Paint. If you’re going to die trying to get one Amiga paint program to work in WinUAE, it should be Deluxe Paint
I spent many hours on DPIV making animations that lasted for 8 frames before I ran out of memory.
I was very attached to Deluxe Paint. Can’t quite remember why, now. I was quite upset when some latest version of Windows wouldn’t support it.
I miss my Amstrad, all 256k….
She’s only just swanning off out because Len drove her to it. All she did was (HAHA!) use what she had. Poor thing (and I say that with purely sardonic intent).
(What she had, by the way, turned out to be an opportunity, after the requisite whingeing was over. …HAHAHA!)
– If I remember that correctly, the chain of events that let/will lead to Rich’s eventual death got started by one of Tim’s ill-conceived inventions… Neither Tim nor Rich know that yet of course, but it makes panel 3 extra ominous and foreboding…
– What’s up with Amy’s angry wall peeking in panel 2!?
She’s just a nosey parker!
“Yes, m’Lady.”
(A no-prize to anyone who gets the reference.)
How good is “Swanning about”? I’ve tried “Faffing about” is it anything like that?
“Swanning about” sounds like one is getting somewhere, however elegantly. “Faffing about” sounds like just thrashing in the pool, madly, throwing up waves and chlorine, and possibly making people wonder if you wouldn’t be better suited to the Special swim time.
Nudging text frames around is good, dignified work.
