Stumped
Note Shelley’s blue nail polish. Early on, someone emailed me to say that Shelley’s blue nails looked like “dragon’s claws”, which I really enjoyed. I probably coloured them in blue three times in 1998 but that has stayed with me ever since. Every time I see blue nail polish on someone now, I think, dragons’ claws.
Maybe *lightning* killed his caddy, Shelley.

I hear the same thing happened to Tiger Woods.
Dragon’s Claws?
Death’s Head cameo confirmed!
I’d forgotten all about Dragon’s Claws until I went to a Geoff Senior exhibition recently. Death’s Head 2 did appear (in cardboard form) in an issue of Giant Days, but we’ve never featured the original and best, yes?
I bet Mercy wore blue nail polish.
I forget how much you art style changed over the years!
I went through many iterations from late 1998 on, some were designed to be labour-saving, others were simply down to me “getting confused.” I found some pre-webcomic comic art from 1996/7 a couple of months back, the strange thing about it was, it was more like how I draw now than much of what followed.
The blue nails really POP. I couldn’t stop staring at panel three.
True, I was doing the same. Excellent character details.
What does it say about me that it is driving me crazy that I can’t “Like” the comments here. This is my favorite internet conversation space now.
Sara!! I was just thinking this. Thank you. Consider this a formal “Like”.
The Bobbinsverse has always been one of the best places on the entire Internet to be!
I’m really happy he’s got good ventilation down there.
Probably not as happy as Shelley is.
I keep saying, “got the yips” to myself randomly all the time since you published this. Delightful.
One of my favourite phrases. There’s a great documentary (I think it’s part of the BBC’s “Horizon” strand) about the brain chemistry reasons for the yips – the same problem affects concert musicians.
Blue nails for Shelly Winters is chilling. Electrifying and being a lightning attractor can make life dangerous especially on the golf greens. Most people who get hit die, of those that survive are usually impaired in some way. There are those niggling exceptions seem unhurt. And a extreme few who claim some kind of enhancement from it.
If it is some kind of a cryptic power would make it more dangerous if it is aimed.
Being down that deep can be most unhealthy unless he has very good ventilation and always clear filters.
