Sort of like a nest
I know in my heart of hearts that today’s effort is so respectful of the comic strip form that it is essentially a Garfield.

Far too much detail for a Garfield.
Classic Garfield Sundays from the mid Eighties put this to shame for detail.
You can draw a lot of detail when you are on all the blow.
I pulled up the archives for Garfield in 1985. They’re fancier than I recalled, but there is a distinct lack of pink reindeer.
I’m presuming the big horned guy is a decoration and not…something else…
ronald: Unfortunately, no. He’s Krampus … the Christmas ogre. Very bad individual.
And a Krampus to boot! That’s our Shelley! I just hope renting him won’t be as consequential as renting the Wendigo from Canada was for the French government.
Does she have it insured? I hope the premiums aren’t too worrisome.
I don’t know if that’s a Low reference in panel 2 but I’m choosing to believe it is!
It is!
Hooray!
I’m fair chuffed!
Does Shelly keep her two meter tall Krampus in storage all year, or do she go out and buy one this year?
Is that the Krampus that Lottie didn’t like to talk about?
I wonder if Shelley went out and personally chopped down the exact tree that Holly was indicating in the December 2nd strip, brought it inside, and decorated it.
Note there are multiple elves on the shelfs.* Shelley has clearly thought through sightlines and surveillance coverage.
*(Elfs on the shelf? Elves on the shelves? Elf on the shelfs?)
elves on shelves. someone needs to write a christmas song called elves on shelves.
I did that. Not in the title, though. I forgot to practice it this year.
“corner that was sort of like a nest” : Pot, meet Kettle? just very over- (vs under-) decorated?
Krampus, one of the projects of the Dark Elves (Dökkálfar). For a time the Dark and Light (Liósalfar) elves worked together. Santa along with Krampus.
Not a good idea as it turned out. Santa is part Light Elf and as with the other Light Elves they are polar opposite to the Dark Elves. Their permanent enemies. The Dark elves will work with the “Santa Spiders” an the Antarctic Nazis too. The stories I could tell you, but not today. The M.I.B. are coming time to fly.
Well, yes, but I’m presuming it’s not a real Krampus. At this point in Shelley’s life, she wasn’t quite as jaded about supernatural beings.
